DRAWING & PAINTING
Application Deadline: February 4, 2005
Classes concentrate on the principals of drawing and painting through studio
work, slide lectures, and demonstrations. Students are introduced to color, imagery,
media, and various drawing and painting techniques. Students will display their
work in public exhibitions. Twenty students are accepted.
Prerequisite

Two years of art training (preferred, but not required).
Audition Requirements
Please bring the following supplies to the audition:

A newsprint pad (18" x 24") with stiff backing

Your choice of ebony pencils or conte crayons in white, gray, or black
-
Gum and/or kneaded rubber erasers
-
A portable easel or drawing board is highly recommended
- The audition master class includes two 50-minute timed drawing exercises (a still
life and a figure drawing) led by an instructor.
PHOTOGRAPHY
Application Deadline: February 4, 2004
Students are instructed in various photographic techniques and are encouraged
to utilize the aesthetics of their surroundings. Students have darkroom time
and the opportunity to display their photography in public exhibitions. Up to
eighteen students are accepted.

Black and white darkroom experience (developing and printing)
Interview Requirements

Please bring the following items to your interview:
- A portfolio of 6-10 pictures that you have shot, developed, and printed. Photos
must be 8" x 10" black and white prints in white mats. Clearly mark
each print with your name. The Oklahoma Arts Institute will retain your portfolio
for consideration.

A self-addressed, stamped (not metered) packing envelope for returning your portfolio.
Weigh the envelope with your portfolio inside to determine the required postage
BEFORE your interview. Portfolios with inadequate postage will not be returned.
The Oklahoma Arts Institute is not responsible for damage or loss.
Please note: If selected, each photography student is required to bring a 35mm
camera and 30 rolls of black and white film to the Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute.
FILM / VIDEO
Application Deadline: February 4, 2005
Students study, write, shoot, and edit scenes that result in short films appropriate
for showcasing. Students learn elements of film language, film appreciation,
and screenwriting for documentary, fiction television, and theatrical film release.
Up to twenty students are accepted.
Interview Requirements

Please bring the following items to your interview:
- A sample of your creative writing (screenwriting, plays, scenes, or story board).
Clearly mark each page with your name.

A 2-3 minute fiction or documentary VHS video that you scripted and shot. Clearly
mark the videotape with your name. The Oklahoma Arts Institute will retain your
materials for consideration.

A self-addressed, stamped (not metered) packing envelope for returning your material.
Weigh the envelope with your material inside to determine the required postage
before your interview. Videotapes with inadequate postage will not be returned.

spaces fill quickly. Please arrive early to check-in and setup.
