
BALLET
Application Deadline: February 4, 2005
Instructional sessions include five hours a day of advanced ballet technique,
ballet variations, pointe class, and pas de deux class (if enrollment permits).
One hour a day of Pilates or Feldenkrais complements dance instruction. Students
rehearse and perform in variations of ballet repertoire at lecture/demonstrations
and/or workshop presentations. Students rehearse and perform in a final project.
Twenty students are accepted.
Prerequisites

A minimum of three (3) years of formal ballet training

Applicants must currently participate in at least three (3) ballet classes per
week

Female applicants must have a minimum of two (2) years of pointe experience and
must currently participate in at least two (2) pointe classes per week.
Mandatory
Audition Attire
Females: Black leotards, pink tights, pink slippers, and pointe shoes. Hair must
be pulled back and secured off the face.
Males: White t-shirts, black tights, and black shoes. Hair must be pulled back
and secured off the face.

MODERN DANCE
Application Deadline: February 4, 2005
Instructional sessions include five hours a day of technique class that develops
the body as an expressive instrument through flexibility and mobility, and works
toward freedom of expression in space. One hour a day of Pilates or Feldenkrais
complements dance instruction. In preparation for a presentation, students learn
composition, improvisation, and rehearse repertoire. Students also rehearse and
perform in a final project. Twenty students are accepted.
Prerequisite
- A minimum of three (3) years of dance training
Mandatory Audition Attire
Females: Black leotards and black or pink footless tights. Hair must be pulled
back and secured off the face.
Males: White t-shirts and footless tights. Hair must be pulled back and secured
off the face.

to schedule attendance at one of the auditions. Audition spaces fill quickly.
Please arrive early to check-in and warm-up. (Video tapes are not accepted
as a substitute for live auditions.)

Awareness of line and quality of movement
Adjudicators are members of the Oklahoma Arts Institute’s
Dance Advisory Panel. Since the Panel judges both ballet and modern dance auditions,
they
may conclude that your strengths lie in either the modern dance or the ballet
class, and recommend that you are placed in that class. For this reason,
dancers are strongly encouraged to apply for both ballet and modern dance. If you apply
for both disciplines, please complete two applications and send two $10 non-refundable
application fees.
The ballet program of the Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute is endowed by the
