Drawing/Painting

Classes concentrate on the principles of drawing and painting through studio work, slide lectures, and demonstrations. Students are introduced to color, imagery, media, and various drawing and painting techniques. Students will display their work in public exhibitions. Twenty students are accepted.

Application Requirements :

1) As soon as possible, call the Oklahoma Arts Institute office at (405) 321-9000 to schedule attendance at one of the audition master classes. Audition spaces fill quickly.

2) Download and submit a complete application.

Audition Requirements:
The audition consists of a portfolio element and an audition. Before your audition, select up to three drawings and/or paintings and photograph them. Please bring the three photographs with you to the audition. The photos must be between 4” x 6” and 8” x 10,” and photos will not be returned. The photos represent the portfolio element of your audition, so please select works that best exemplify your style, creativity, and talent.

At the Audition:
Please arrive early to check in and set up. The audition consists of two 50-minute timed drawing exercises (a still life and a figure drawing) led by an instructor.

Please bring the following supplies to the audition:
• Three portfolio photos
• A newsprint pad (18” x 24”) with stiff backing
• Your choice of ebony pencils or conte crayons in white, gray, or black
• Gum and/or kneaded rubber erasers
• A portable easel or drawing board

Charcoal drawings are unacceptable and will be disqualified.
